Seminar on “Year of Charity” for the Pastoral districts of the Mekong and Bassac Rivers

An estimated 70 youth from 12 Parishes of the two pastoral districts attended a seminar at St. Joseph Parish (Chhrey Thom) on March 22nd-23rd, 2014. The Youth Office organised this seminar aimed at youth in each pastoral district, which focused on Year of Charity in the hope that it will help the young people to offer a helping hand to the unfortunate by showing the mercy of God and do their best in different ways to reduce their suffering.

The Traeng Trayeng Parish solemnly inaugurated a new activity building under the presidency of Bishop Olivier Schmitthaeusler, Apostolic Vicar of Phnom Penh, accompanied by Bishop Pierre Suon Hangly, Coadjutor Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Phnom Penh, together with numerous priests. The ceremony was held on December 13 in Traeng Trayeng Commune, Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu Province, to support and enhance the pastoral mission and activities of Saint Martin Church of this parish.

In the context of the conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, Bishop Olivier urged the faithful to pray and to continue works of charity. He said,
