Bishop Olivier payed a visit of courtesy to the Venerable Buddhist Patriarch of Phnom Penh

His Excellency on the occasion of New Year to show the friendship of Catholic Church for the Venerable Patriarch Tep Vong (90 years old) is going through a difficult health condition.

It was a great opportunity to thank the Venerable Patriarch for his long action in favor of interreligious dialogue (having attended the Meeting in Assisi 1989 with Pope Saint John Paul II and many international meetings with San Egidio).

We are also grateful for our good relations in Cambodia through many interreligious gathering.The good relationships between our religions is the foundation of peace and harmony in our Cambodian society today.The Venerable Patriarch wishes all the Catholic faithful and their pastors to have good health, prosperity and inner peace.

The Traeng Trayeng Parish solemnly inaugurated a new activity building under the presidency of Bishop Olivier Schmitthaeusler, Apostolic Vicar of Phnom Penh, accompanied by Bishop Pierre Suon Hangly, Coadjutor Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Phnom Penh, together with numerous priests. The ceremony was held on December 13 in Traeng Trayeng Commune, Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu Province, to support and enhance the pastoral mission and activities of Saint Martin Church of this parish.

In the context of the conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, Bishop Olivier urged the faithful to pray and to continue works of charity. He said,
